Specially curated displays provide comparative insights that will give visitors a better understanding of the commonalities across the world’s major belief systems – and how different communities around the world, as well as in Singapore, draw meaning from death and dying.

Stretched over 3,800 sqm, Hell’s Museum also provides a deeper understanding of Haw Par Villa’s infamous 10 Courts of Hell.

Discover how concepts behind the graphic representations of sins and punishments in the afterlife evolved as ancient civilisations shared their cultures across time and space.

Sizzling Feedback for Hell's Museum

  • The museum with paid entry was much more enjoyable compared to the free entry villa. Quiet and educational. Gave a great insight into the history of Singapore as well as multiple religions. Would definitely recommend

Hell’s Museum is an entirely unique slice of Singaporean history. It was the world’s first museum dedicated to covering the concept of Hell and the afterlife. It is educational regarding various world religions. There was a lady there who spoke with me for nearly an hour regarding her personal relationship with religion, and how Singapore has approached the co-existence of its extremely diverse population. It’s a must-visit for anyone who enjoys history, culture, or religious studies.

  • Very interesting explanations about religious myths about the afterlife all around the world, but focusing mostly on Taoism and Buddhism. Great, unsettling dioramas which were a little too much for our ten year-old daughter. Our guide Paul was very knowledgeable and really nice! I would DEFINITELY recommend to people interested in learning more about afterlife myths. There’s the Haw Par villa to visit right by too!

The video, exhibits and docent are all very informative and interesting. Michelle is a marvellous guide. Delighted to visit this museum and the villa to see what has been gone in Hong Kong’s Haw Par Villa (which only the mansion is left). Recommend people of all ages to spend time there. It’s also very conveniently located right outside MRT station.

We booked a return ticket to Hell today. We expected horror but actually encountered a wonderful museum, and a great tour guide. Definitely more than worth making the effort. I'd say: go to hell (and back).

Your ticket price goes towards paying for the maintenance and survival of Hell’s Museum, and Haw Par Villa, as a historical and cultural site.
