About the Museum

Specially curated displays provide comparative insights that will give visitors a better understanding of the commonalities across the world’s major belief systems – and how different communities around the world, as well as in Singapore, draw meaning from death and dying.

Stretched over 3,800 sqm, Hell’s Museum also provides a deeper understanding of Haw Par Villa’s infamous 10 Courts of Hell.

Discover how concepts behind the graphic representations of sins and punishments in the afterlife evolved as ancient civilisations shared their cultures across time and space.

Visit us for an eye-opening experience and have a hell of a time!

Sizzling Feedback for Hell's Museum

  • 1st museum in the world on death. The S$20 entrance is worth it because of the complimentary guided tour. We thoroughly enjoyed the videos created by the museum. It was informative and educational. The docent, Michelle, was knowledgeable and comprehensive in her tour. Kudos!

This was one of my favourite experiences in Singapore. First, there is an area that examines death and what it means to various cultures, as well as how the deceased is treated. Our guide was excellent and provided a lot of insight into the beliefs held by Singaporeans. Next, there is an area that features many dioramas that supposedly depict various levels of hell (a combination of different beliefs and legends). It brought a lot of joy to my friends and I seeing the extreme punishments in contrast to the reasons behind them. This place could definitely be used to scare unruly kids straight.

  • What a cool place to visit if you have any interest in the ideas surrounding death and the afterlife of different cultures and religions.. Very informative and visually stimulating as well.. the sculptures look smaller in the pictures than they do in person.. The staff are all super friendly and knowledgeable of the topics visited.. I'd recommend planning to spend at least 3 hours if you really want to take it all in.. plus there's a massive park of sculptures outside of the Hell Museum that are free of charge to see which are family friendly.. I wouldn't take any small children inside the museum though due to some of the gruesome depictions within the 10 courts of Hell.. Definitely recommend to visit this place if you have the time and interest. Glad I made it..

What a place. I recommend the guided tour. Our guide Paul was very friendly and knowledgeable. We would not have understood the deeper meanings without him. A whole world of traditions and spiritual beliefs was gained in a short time. The whole place is fascinating.
